Day for Veterans will be held Saturday, Aug. 12

American Legion Post 67 in Valley  along with the  women’s auxiliary and the Vet to Vet organization in Lanett are joining forces once again to host a  Day for Veterans program on Saturday AUG. 12th  in Valley Community Center’s Bobby Crowder Room from 9- 4 that afternoon. Veterans Affairs representatives will be on hand to talk about benefits veterans  are entitled.  According to Post Commander Lanny Bledsoe ,  arrangements have been made to have a representative from the Veterans Affairs office in Opelika to be at the Community Center that day to talk to veterans who come by. Tables will be set up in the Bobby Crowder Room where Veterans Affairs representatives and veterans support groups will meet with local veterans to answer all kinds of questions.

“It will be a chance for them to learn about some benefits they are entitled to but may not be aware of,” Post Commander Bledsoe said.  Adding , “We are hoping for another good turnout, especially among our younger veterans. We’re just trying to get the word out right now. We’ll have a lot of posters around town letting everyone know this will be taking place.”
