The transformation of the old Recline 'N Sleep furniture store into a new craft brewery is moving along and is only a matter of days before brewing gets under way at the Chattabrewchee Southern Brew House . According to owner Mike Denehy, Adding , "All we're waiting for is final approval from the state and a certificate of occupancy from the City of West Point". Mike Denehy A retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, is eager to get started. Also ready to get started is the head brewer, Chambers County native Barry Stephens. "We want to be the local beer," Deheny said. "Everything is tied to an area that includes West Point, Valley, Lanett, Pine Mountain to the east, LaGrange to the north, Opelika-Auburn to the south and LaFayette to the west. We won't be interested in a wider area at first." Denehy is from the Boston area but does have some local ties. He's married to the former Kathy Thomas, whose mom, Ann Thomas, taught for years at Springwood School. Kathy is now a JAG attorney for the military. Chattabrewchee Southern Brew House is set to open on September 8th.
