Last week Norbord announced that it will be at full production next year.
According to human resources manager Jon Anderson the plant will employ 138 workers, and 116 have already been hired. Another 18 are in the queue to join the staff, and Anderson said he is still interviewing.
Jon Anderson added, When Norbord hits full production, it will have a $6.5 million annual payroll and will spend another $4.5 million on benefits
In addition the company is investing more than $50 million in upgrading its plant in Lanett .
Once it opens, Norbord will run 24 hours a day 365 days a year on a four-shift schedule where staff members work 12-hour shifts 14 out of 28 days and have seven straight days off during each cycle. Norbord is expected to open in the first quarter of 2018.
