Severe Weather could happen in East Alabama today

Forecast for today
Weather chart

We do have  high chance of having severe weather this afternoon in our area. Between 2-6pm there is strong chance of there being isolated supercells moving through our area in East Alabama. With it being isolated supercells, the Auburn-Opelika could get severe weather while the Valley area doesn't get a drop of rain or vice versa. Right now the best course of action is to go ahead and prepare for heavy rainfall with hail, tornadoes, and strong winds being a possibility.

The second wave of severe weather will start at 8pm and go into the early morning hours. This round is expected to be more of a danger to the Birmingham area and more northern parts of Alabama. We still could have some nasty storms though.

The key for both rounds of storms is they are expected to be isolated supercell storms. One area could have very dangerous storms while 10 miles down the road is nothing more than light rain. Be prepared and be sure to keep a look out for updates and weather radars. We will continue to cover this throughout the day and night. If things do get really bad in our area, we will have all the latest on 97.7 Kickerfm, Mix96.7, WCJM 100.9, and the rest of our iHeartRadio stations.
