Why are Cassette tapes making a comeback??

Cassette tapes are officially cool again, with a new study showing resale prices exploding by up to 1,000% as Gen Z leans into analog life and less screen time. An analysis of modern cassette sales found most tapes now sell for about double their original price, while the most in-demand albums go for ten times more, especially releases from the 2000s. Big names like Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Lana Del Rey are driving the surge, with some tapes reselling for hundreds of dollars after originally costing under $30. The trend is picking up fast, too, with UK cassette sales jumping over 200% in early 2025 and searches for cassette players soaring right along with them.
